First measurement of the submillimetre Sunyaev-Zel'dovich effect

Abstract
We report on the first detection of the Sunyaev Zel'dovich increment at submillimetre wavelengths. It is achieved on cluster A2163 with the PRONAOS two-metre balloon-borne telescope. A complete spectrum of the millimetre and submillimetre emission is obtained using the data from IRAS, ISO, PRONAOS, SuZie and DIABOLO. This spectrum is consistent with a two-component model featuring dust and the full SZ CMB distortions.
