Measurement of the 4.8-MeVB9State Width by the ReactionB10(He3,α)B9(α)Li5atE(He3)=2.3 and 5.0MeV

Abstract
The analog of the 4.7-MeV state of the Be9 nucleus has been observed in its mirror B9 by the reaction B10(He3,α)B9(α)Li(g.s.)3 at E(He3)=2.3 and 5.0 MeV. The excitation energy and width of the state have been deduced. The value of 1.5 ± 0.3 MeV found for the width is in line with the value deduced by the reaction Li7(He3,n)B9, but it is larger by a factor of about 4 than the one measured by the proton following the β+ decay of the C9 nucleus.
