Abstract
The effects of feeding all-hay and all-concentrate diets upon the activities of several enzymes of carbohydrate and fat metabolism in adipose and mammary tissues from lactating cows were investigated. The all-concentrate ration, which depressed milk fat percentage, caused a slight depression in the activities of a number of enzymes in mammary tissue and elevation of the activities of a number of enzymes in adipose tissue. The data support the suggestion, presented previously, that the milk fat depression associated with the feeding of high concentrate diet may be due to alterations in the metabolism of mammary and adipose tissues. This publication has 8 references indexed in Scilit:
