Abstract
The development of myxedema and/or goiter in children and adults during the prolonged administration of large doses of iodide has recently been reported (1, 2, 3). This phenomenon has been attributed to an antithyroid action of the iodide (2). Administration of desiccated thyroid (2) or cessation of the iodide (3) resulted in a regression of the symptoms. Keywords
