Abstract
The procedure of McGee, Gallagher and Koch for extraction of the hormone appears to be the most complete at present. Attempts at hy-drolyzing hypothetical combinations of the hormone have not increased the yield. The yield from rams'' testicles varied more than from bulls'' testes. The limited comparative studies on monthly collections suggest a possible seasonal variation. The presence of testicular hormone in foetal bulls'' testes was proved. It appears to be in higher concentrations in fetal and calf testes than in adult or old bull testis tissue. The concentration of the hormone in bulls'' blood was of the order of 1/12 of that in bulls'' testes. Attempts to obtain active extracts from wheat, yeast, spinach or carrots were unsuccessful.
