Abstract
Three classic stratigraphic sections at the Silurian-Devonian boundary have been established in the Saoura region in the Ougarta mountains, Algeria. The presence of Monograptus hercynicus in these beds, which probably are younger than those yielding trilobites with Devonian affinities, throws light on the problem of the Silurian-Devonian boundary in the Sahara and in Europe.
