Abstract
The avg. wt. of yr.-old [male] albino rats castrated at the age of 21 days was 280 gs., while that of the controls was 311 gs. The long bones of the castrate rat were on an avg. 3.8% shorter than those of unoperated [male][male] of corresponding age. The differences observed were statistically significant in the femur, tibio-fibula, humerus, radius, ulna and scapula length. The condition of the epiphyses in the bones taken from yr.-old castrates did not differ appreciably from that of control animals. This publication has 3 references indexed in Scilit:
