Abstract
A variational principle is derived for the probability that a neutron, incident upon a body of arbitrary shape and suffering multiple collisions within the body, will be absorbed by the body. Using constant trial function, the variational results are compared to sensibly exact numerical results for the case of an infinite cylinder. Keywords
