Abstract
Extract In October, 1964, a case of human trichinosis was diagnosed in Auckland and it seemed likely that the disease had been contracted by eating locally raised pigmeat which was infected with Trichinella spiralis. Subsequently, the Parasitology Department of this Centre, in association with the Meat Inspection Division of the Department of Agriculture, conducted a survey on adult pigs killed in the Auckland Province to determine whether infection of pigs occurred in the area and to try to obtain an indication of its prevalence.
