Abstract
Dielectric and electromechanical coupling properties of Sm-and Mn-doped PbTiO3 ceramics have been investigated. Small changes in the relative dielectric permittivity with frequency and temperature of rare earth modified PbTiO3 suggest that the polarizability is mainly intrinsic. Large anisotropic electromechanical coupling has been observed with the proper poling treatment. The ratio of thickness to planar coupling coefficient, k t /k p , is larger than 50 near room temperature. Keywords
