Abstract
A technique for the cultivation of amphibian leukocytes, using heparinized blood and Bacto-Phyto-hemagglutinin, is described. The karyotype of Necturus m. maculosus, obtained from leukocyte mitoses, is presented. The diploid chromosome number of this salamander is 38. These chromosomes are classified into 3 groups, according to length and position of the centromere. The chromosome number presented here corrects the erroneous count of King (1912).This publication has 4 references indexed in Scilit:
