Abstract
Epidermal Growth Factor (EGF) is a peptide comprising 53 aminoacids which was first isolated from mouse and rat submandibular glands (1, 2). In man, EGF was found to be identical with urogastrone found in human urine (3). In the human gastrointestinal tract it has been localized to the submandibular glands, Brunner's glands in the duodenum and the Paneth-cells of the small intestine (4, 5).
