Abstract
The scope of electrosynthesis is reviewed. Examples are chosen that highlight particular advantages over conventional chemical methods, i.e. the possibility of high-potential oxidation and reduction under chemically mild conditions and selectivity in functional group transformations. The most important mechanistic pathways are also exemplified. Keywords
