Abstract
In recent years, interest in establishing a separate health care category for the Malcolm Baldrige National Quality Award has grown. A 1995 pilot study evaluated a new set of award criteria specifically designed for the health care industry. The article discusses the similarities and differences between the two awards, including the factors that make quality management in the health care industry more complex. Keywords
