Locus of Control: Supervision and Work Satisfaction

Abstract
This article discusses the increase in public concern surrounding new problems between workers and their employers. Research suggests that employees may have a generalized expectancy regarding whether environmental outcomes are controlled by their employers. The individual who believes that environmental outcomes are generated internally believes he can control his own fate, whereas the worker who believes it is an external function feels that much of what happens to him is controlled by external forces. The first topic of interest relates the I-E scale to work alienation and job satisfaction. Studies reported significant correlations between a measure of anomie and the I-E scale.
