Abstract
Synthesis of a protected variant of phosphonomethyl-L-tyrosine, a phosphotyrosine isostere, is described. Palladium catalyzed coupling of alanine-based organozinc reagent 4 with dimethyl 4-iodobenzylphosphonate (5) forms the basis of this approach.
