Abstract
Well developed head cavities were observed in some birds in which these structures have not previously been studied: Parus, Melopsittacus, Phasianus, Alca, Ardea, Asio, Spermestes, Chelidon and Riparia. The heron, Ardea, shows primitive reptilian features. The premandibular and mandibular cavities are large. The hyoid cavity is small and shows two condensations, one behind the other, in the tortoise, the cat and the crocodile. In certain stages the rostral cavity is divided into two or three parts. Keywords
