Abstract
The enzyme was found in weakly alkaline extracts of beef or rat liver homogenates. The enzyme is particle bound, and was not purified. Dehydroepiandrosterone sulfate (1) was used as the substrate. Estrone sulfate is also attacked, but androsterone and testane-3alpha-ol-17-one sulfate are not; neither are phenolphthalein sulfate or chondroitin sulfate. The enzyme preparation is also free from beta-glucuronidase. Phosphate inhibits; androsterone sulfate in large excess inhibits the hydrolysis of (1).This publication has 1 reference indexed in Scilit:
