$Σ^{-}$ Decay Parameters

Abstract

We have measured the decay parameters of

Σ^{-} \to n + π^{-}

. We find

α_{-} = - 0.104 \pm 0.04

. Defining

ϕ

by

β_{-} = {(1 - {α_{-}}^{2})}^{- \frac{1}{2}} sin ϕ

,

γ_{-} = {(1 - {α_{-}}^{2})}^{- \frac{1}{2}} cos ϕ

, we find

ϕ = - 22 ° \pm 30 °

, i.e., the decay occurs mainly through the

S

-wave channel.
