Abstract
The spectrum of benzene is discussed. According to the calculations, the strong N→V absorption region near and just below λ2000 should be stronger than for a molecule with three unconjugated double bonds. New quantitative measurements on the spectrum near and below λ2000 would be of interest. Relations of the spectra of pyridine and of benzene derivatives to that of benzene are briefly discussed. Keywords
