IODIDE AND THE THYROIDAL MORPHOLOGIC RESPONSE TO EXOGENOUS THYROTROPHIN IN HYPOPHYSECTOMIZED RATS1

Abstract
High levels of "trapped" iodide within the thyroid may slightly diminish the increase in thyroid cell height which exogenous thyroid stimulating hormone (TSH) elicits in hypophysectomized rats. However, iodide administration did not exert a profound effect on the morphologic response of the thyroid to TSH.
