Abstract
Although the number and the rate of ectopic pregnancies in the United States are rising, maternal mortality due to this condition has declined over the past decade. The number of deaths could be reduced even further if both patient and physician were more expeditious in taking definitive action. Dr Dorfman discusses the various tests and tools useful in identifying this threat to the patient's future reproductive ability as well as to her life. Keywords
