Abstract
Elevated serum free fatty acids (FFA) have been implicated previously as the agent causing encephalopathy and fatty degeneration of the viscera (Reye's syndrome). This study documents a decrease in medium and long chain FFA from elevated levels (1.35 mEq/liter) to low levels (0.30 mEq/liter) in a patient successfully treated with exchange transfusions. Keywords
