Abstract
The Audit Commission (1993) provides clear evidence that communication in the NHS is far from well. In order to study communication between acute general hospitals and patients the Audit Commission, taking the patient's point of view, focused on four major illnesses: breast cancer, benign prostatic hyperplasia, stroke, and rheumatoid arthritis.Keywords
