Abstract
A STUDY of 100 patients with carcinoma of the colon or rectum operated upon at the Massachusetts Memorial Hospitals indicates that it is advisable to divide such patients into two groups, those with solitary lesions and those with more than one tumor. A review of the pathology of the lesions and the subsequent medical history in these cases has produced evidence favoring a more extensive initial resection in the second group. The data upon which this conclusion is based were obtained from the records of the last 100 consecutive patients with cancer of the colon or rectum who underwent resection . . .Keywords
