Abstract
Visible absorption maxima of a range of aminoazobenzene disperse dyes in neutral and acidic media are recorded. Spectral shifts resulting from structural changes in the diazonium and coupling components are related to Hammett σ-constants of substituents and to the pKa values of the dyes. Keywords
