Abstract
Thermal expansion measurement of poly(vinylidene fluoride) is being reported along its film thickness, i.e., the direction of spontaneous polarization. Two-terminal-capacitance method with certain modifications has been adopted to measure the coefficient of linear thermal expansion. So far, the data on values of α along film thickness are not available for PVF2. The temperature variation of α shows anomalous behavior. It has been correlated with conspicuous changes in the related coefficients of piezoelectric, elastic, and electrostrictive properties. The thermal expansion further enhances the pyroelectric property of PVF2 through secondary pyroelectric effect. This publication has 20 references indexed in Scilit:
