Abstract
Aminocaproic acid, a potent synthetic antifibrinolytic agent, may be used as a part of the total treatment of the patient with life-threatening hemorrhage associated with excessive fibrinolysis. Since it is a potentially dangerous compound, particularly in the presence of an underlying thrombosing state, its use should be restricted to those situations in which clinical and laboratory indications for its use are apparent. Its usefulness has been most clearly established in the management of excessive postprostatectomy bleeding.Keywords
