Use of perturbation theory and statistical concepts in nuclear structure studies with application to the ground state of 14N

Abstract
A statistical theory due to Ullah in which the dominant configuration of a nuclear state is identified, and the remainder treated statistically, is modified to include an energy weighting factor. When applied to the problem of 14N the modified theory predicts a 10–20% admixture of 2s–1d configurations in the ground state.
