Abstract
Seven cases of bacteremia following transrectal needle biopsy of the prostate were reviewed. Symptoms developed within 24-72 h after the procedure and required hospitalization and treatment with parenteral antibiotics. Escherichia coli was the causative agent in 5 patients and Klebsiella pneumoniae in 2. Although relatively rare, this complication was associated with significant morbidity. This publication has 1 reference indexed in Scilit:
