Abstract
Summary: The effective training of facilitator/ tutors is crucial to the success of a problem-based learning approach to medical education. New skills are needed to accomplish the change from giver of information to facilitator of learning, coach, and guide. This paper outlines considerations for the design of a tutor training programme and describes the Harvard Medical School programme in detail.Keywords
