Abstract
Given taxonomic data in which each of a given set of terminal taxa takes on a single state for each of a given set of characters, a monothetic group of the data may be defined as a subset of the terminal taxa for which possession of every member of a particular set of character states is necessary and sufficient for membership. Sharrock and Felsenstein (1975) suggested that knowledge of monothetic groups may be useful in taxonomic work. A method for listing the monothetic groups of a data set is presented. This publication has 0 references indexed in Scilit:
