Abstract
The effect of Cd substitution for Ca in Bi2Sr2Ca2Cu3O y has been studied using the rapid-quenching-after-rapid-melting technique. The zero resistivity temperature T c(endpoint) increased and tailing of transition vanished with increased doping of Cd. The film with the composition Bi2Sr2Ca1.6Cd0.4Cu3O y exhibited a T c(endpoint) value of 87 K without tail. Further substitution of Cd for Ca brought about lowering in the T c until finally no superconductivity transition was shown above 20 K, because a semiconducting phase with c 0=2.5 nm formed instead of a c 0=3.0 nm phase. Keywords
