Abstract
The diffusion and heterogeneous reaction of labile species in a cylinder of finite length are examined. The effects of radial and longitudinal diffusion are included in the mathematical treatment. The results of this analysis are applied to published data of the recombination coefficients of oxygen and hydrogen atoms on the surfaces of various materials. Keywords
