Abstract
This chapter aims to provide guidance to those planning supportinterventions regarding the grounds for selecting the appropriate type of interventionstrategy and regarding the main elements that should be taken intoconsideration in designing such interventions. The chapter addresses the conditions and contexts that call for and precludeparticular support strategies and provides a generic framework for designinginitiatives that marshal or augment social support. The chapter concentrateson person-centered rather than system-centered initiatives.
