Abstract
The asymmetry in the photodisintegration of the deuteron by polarized photons has been measured between photon energies of 75 and 230 MeV. Measurements were made mostly at 90° in the center-of-mass system, but limited data at 45° and 135° were also obtained. The data below 140 MeV are compared with current theories. At 90° our results are generally smaller than theoretical calculations. The measured asymmetry changes sign at about 130 MeV and shows a backward peaking at the higher energies.
