Abstract
The powder X-ray diffraction patterns and vibrational spectra were studied for the InPO4-ScPO4 system. The two cations were found mutually partly replaceable in the two phosphate structures involved, D2h17 and D4h19; the orthorhombic D2h17 structure of InPO4 is apt to accept 25 mol.% ScPO4, whereas the tetragonal D4h19 structure of ScPO4 only accepts InPO4 in amounts not exceeding 5 mol.%. The vibrational spectra of TIPO4 are also investigated. Keywords
