Abstract
Advocacy may have a long-established and honored place in the social work canon, but relatively little is known of what strategies of advocacy are effective, and social workers often practice advocacy without a clear conceptual scheme to guide their work. This article redefines the advocacy role and provides a typology to clarify practice. Keywords
