Abstract
The bluish leaf colour that is characteristic of certain varieties of Eragrostis curvula is the result of surface wax extrusions which occur as branched flat ribbons. Differences in ribbon density exist within and between varieties, and ribbon development varies with age and light environment. Sections show osmiophilic granules and streaks in the outer epidermal walls but reveal no pores through which wax might be extruded. Keywords
