Abstract
Dielectric measurements were carried out on beds consisting of beads of the ion-exchange resin sulfopropyl Sephadex of the strong-acid type over the frequency range 30 Hz to 130 MHz. Striking dielectric relaxations were observed with dielectric increments of 102–103 in dielectric units and relaxation frequencies of 10 MHz. The relative permittivities and electrical conductivities of ion-exchange resins with different ionic froms were evaluated by the method proposed in recent investigations on the basis of theories of interfacial polarization. The values of the relative permittivities thus determined were unchanged irrespective of the ionic form and were smaller than the value for water. The values of the electrical conductivities changed with the ionic species of the counter ions. Keywords
