Enlarged gauge symmetry of gravitation theory

Abstract
The gauge group of the general theory of relativity is extended to local . The purpose of this extension is to provide the freedom for regularizing the operators which occur upon quantizing the theory. Under certain natural requirements the extension is shown to be essentially unique.
