Abstract
Mice shedding aerobic gram-negative microorganisms [bacteria] with high levels of resistance to tetracycline were orally inoculated with Salmonella typhimurium. Levels of resistance of salmonellae isolated from tissue were not increased and, in most instances, were lower than preinoculation levels. [This study has relevance for the relationship between the incorporation of antimicrobial agents in animal feeds and the subsequent emergence of resistant enteropathogens by R factor transfer.].
