Abstract
The general problem of indigenous demographic decline in the New World after conquest is briefly reviewed, with emphasis on contributing factors. The impact of epidemic diseases is evaluated and a methodology offered which blends ethnohistorical accounts with medical information and data from analogous outbreaks. The Andean area is the focal point, smallpox the test case. This publication has 0 references indexed in Scilit:
