Ribosomal Proteins of the Genus Fusarium

Abstract
Analysis of the structural ribosomal proteins of 172 isolates of several species, varieties and formae speciales of the genus Fusarium indicates a high degree of conservation of these proteins within species, but considerable diversity among species. Greater similarities in ribosomal proteins are also expressed within the perfect states than between perfect states. Proteins of a world-wide collection of isolates of F. crookwellense show a high degree of intraspecies conservation of ribosomal protein on a global scale. Ribosomal proteins provide a reliable phenotypic tool to aid in the identification of species within the genus Fusarium and provide the potential for a base to study taxonomic relationship of fungi at the species level.
