Abstract
The generalized Yee-algorithm based on the discretization of Maxwell's equations in their integral form using an unstructured and irregular dual grid is presented. The generalized Yee-algorithm is much more robust than the traditional Yee-algorithm in that it can be used to accurately model microstrip devices with general geometries. Automatic grid generation techniques offered by a myriad of commercially available computer-aided design packages can be used to model these devices. Not only does this contribute to the accuracy of the solution, but it also greatly simplifies the modeling process. Through numerical examples, the algorithm has proven to be stable and second-order accurate. Keywords
