Abstract
Juvenile and adult corrections have traditionally maintained a separateness that does not encourage a (oojecratilve aJpproach to research. Studies usualli address "successes" and failuress" within systems or jurisdictions. Data and research about juvenile and adult correctional programs are available, but there is little that conne(ts the t o() as a continuum. There is a need for a broader perspective In view of this need, the objective of the present research i as Ito provide an analysis with policy and research implications for both types of programs. Specifi ally, youths ser ved in juvenile correctional programs wsho subsequently entered adult prisons were contrasted with thosc wh1o did tio t e-nter prison.
