Abstract
The effect of thermal history on the crystallization behavior of selenium has been studied by both dilatometric and microscopic methods. The spherulitic growth rate was found to be insensitive to thermal pretreatment while the total crystallization rate depended strongly on the thermal history of the material. It was concluded that high-purity selenium crystallizes by heterogeneous nucleation. Keywords
