Chronic bile duct cannulation in the dog

Abstract
Chronic bile duct cannulation for periods of up to 6 months was obtained by catheterizing the bile duct in cholecystectomized dogs with plastic tubing without ligation of the bile duct. Between experiments, the bile drained into the intestine and during experiments, the plastic tube was removed through a chronic duodenal cannula. Similar bile volumes were obtained over a 24-hr collection period whether or not the bile was reintroduced into the intestine. bile collection in chronic dogs; 24-hr bile volume Submitted on February 28, 1964
