Abstract
The presumed ancestral karyotype of Muridae, previously reconstructed, is compared with that of a selected Cricetidae species, Akodon a arviculoides. Most of the chromosomes of the presumed ancestral chromosomes of Muridae are homeologous to chromosome arms or segments in the Akodon karyotype. This result strengthens the validity of the reconstruction of the ancestral karyotype for both Muridae and Cricetidae. Keywords
