Abstract
The reaction between silicon tetrachloride and catechol in acetonitrile at 0° results in the formation of o-phenylenedioxydichlorosilane (I) and bis(o-phenylenedioxy)silane (III). The former compound exists both as a monomer-dimer mixture (I and II) and as the pure dimer (II). 2,2′-Biphenylenedioxy-bis(methoxy)silane (V) was also prepared and its facile conversion to bis(2,2′-biphenylenedioxy)silane (VI) was observed. Keywords
